Day 3 = A Time to Laugh (a.k.a. Snaps All Day)

A few weeks back Kirsten took on her first job since becoming a mom. It had been about 10 months since Noah was born and she was nervous. The job was babysitting our neighbor one to two times a week. The best part about this job is that she gets to stay with Noah while doing it. While it’s nice for her to be able to stay home while working and be with her son, there are still stressful days. She is, after all, taking care of both a one-year-old and a two-year old!

Always laugh when you can. It’s cheap medicine.

So today (Tuesday, and her day to babysit), I wanted to keep her laughing and smiling. Whether the day was stressful or they were having a great time at the park together, laughter never hurts a situation. So for Day 3 of our #31CreativeWays adventure 🚀 laughing was a main priority for the Paschals. So…

What I Did:

Snapchat. On the hour. Every hour (or at least pretty close). We have really gotten into Snapchat and it’s been a blast having fun with it. So today was very simple. Be goofy and have fun by sending snaps to her. To end the day, I downloaded the Head’s Up game on my iPhone and we spent about 30 minutes laughing while trying to guess which word or phrase we were holding up to our foreheads.

That’s it. Simple. Fun. Laughter.

It can really be the best medicine.

What I Learned:

I love laughing and having fun with Kirsten. I knew that already, but tonight I was reminded once again how great it is to marry your best friend and enjoy being with each other. Possibly my favorite quote of all time was said by the late great Jimmy Valvano…

To me there are three things everyone should do every day. Number one is laugh. Number two is think — spend some time time in thought. Number three, you should have your emotions move you to tears. If you laugh, think, and cry, that’s a heck of a day.

~Jimmy V

So today go have a good laugh with your loved one. Tell a bad joke. Bring up a funny story. Rent a funny movie and put the phones away. Lay on your couch, watch and laugh in each others arms. It really can be the best medicine.

Cheers,

Mike
